Objectives

  • Understand what the environment is.
  • Learn simple actions to protect Earth.
  • Use new vocabulary in sentences.

Reading

Earth is our home. It has oceans, rivers, mountains, forests, and cities. People, animals, and plants share the same air and water. When we throw trash on the ground, it can reach the sea and harm animals. When we waste water, we lose an important resource. Small actions can make a big difference: reduce waste, reuse items, and recycle materials like paper and plastic.

Vocabulary

  • Environment — the world around us
  • Recycle — make something new from used items
  • Pollution — dirty air, water, or land
  • Resource — something we use (water, energy)
  • Reduce — use less
  • Reuse — use again

Comprehension questions

  1. What are two places found on Earth?
  2. How can trash harm animals?
  3. Why is water a resource?
  4. What does “reuse” mean?
  5. Write one action you can do today.

Objectives

  • Identify common adventure sports.
  • Learn safety rules and equipment.
  • Practice using action verbs (climb, hike, paddle).

Reading

Adventure sports can be fun and healthy. Hiking builds endurance, climbing builds strength, and kayaking improves balance. But safety always comes first. Wear the right equipment like a helmet when needed, follow instructions, check the weather, and carry water. A good plan helps you enjoy the sport and return safely.

Vocabulary

  • Helmet — protects your head
  • Equipment — tools you use
  • Endurance — ability to keep going
  • Balance — staying steady
  • Instructions — steps to follow
  • Supervision — an adult watching and helping
